The ENVE 3.4 SES Wheelset is a rim brake specific climbing wheel with an aero advantage. It is ideal for road cyclists and racers who require maximum versatility for riding fast in the mountains or valleys. With build options starting below 1,400g, aero doesn't need to cost you on the climbs.
Since 2009, the 3.4 wheel has established itself as ENVE's most versatile and most popular wheelset amongst road cyclists of all abilities.
The latest version of the SES 3.4 has been completely redesigned to balance speed, stability and rolling resistance to refine performance in all terrain and weather conditions. This includes the addition of ENVE’s full carbon moulded brake track, a textured surface with high-temperature resistance that achieves exceptional stopping power and equal performance in wet and dry conditions. The design also means braking force at the levers is decreased by 30% compared to the previous generation brake track, allowing you to control speed with confidence.
Like the rest of the SES range, the 3.4 derives its name from its rim depths: 38mm at the front and 42mm at the rear. Each wheel features patented dissimilar SES rim geometries that are tailored to the airflow at the front and back of the bike respectively. The wider front rim aids crosswind stability while the narrower rear rim improves overall airflow attachment for better aerodynamics.
Industry leaders in carbon fibre, every ENVE rim is handmade from raw uni-directional carbon at ENVE’s headquarters in Utah, USA. The bespoke construction process utilises rim-specific carbon laminates, moulded spoke holes, and removable bladders. The paint-free finish reduces weight while maintaining strength, stiffness and allowing the beautiful handmade quality to shine through.
Saddleback hand builds its ENVE wheels in-house, ensuring superb build quality and oversight from the moment components arrive at our in-house wheel building facilities to when the completed wheels are sent out for delivery.
For SES wheels, our number one choice for hubs is Chris King R45s. The Chris King R45 rear hub combines a redesigned RingDrive™ system with 45 teeth for lower drag and near instant engagement. It has a lightweight hub body and Chris King’s legendary made-in-house bearings, in either steel or ceramic. Fully serviceable and with a five-year warranty, you can be confident that you’re investing in an elite performance product that has been built to last.
Saddleback also offers bespoke wheel builds with a variety of hubs. These include DT Swiss and Industry Nine. Contact our wheel builders to find out more about bespoke builds.
